First Annual OAKtoberfest Saturday, October 2, at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel
(Oak Grove, KY) Dust off your lederhosen, feast on brats and beer, and dance a waltz to a live polka band on Saturday, October 2, at the first annual OAKtoberfest at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel. Admission is free and the event will be held in the Grandstands and on the patio overlooking the harness racing track at the Oak Grove entertainment facility just off I-24 Exit 86.
“We are ushering in Fall with our version of a traditional German Oktoberfest that we are calling OAKtoberfest,” said Darold Londo, President & General Manager at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel. “Come hoist a stein to good times and good luck with us.”
Doors open at 4pm with a live polka band and food, Oktoberfest beers on tap and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Registration for two unique contests will be held from 4pm-5pm. While the event is open to all ages, you must be at least 21 years old and a member of the Oak Grove Gaming Players Club to participate in the contests. Membership in the Players Club is free.
The inaugural Frocktober Contest will be held at 5:30pm and invites guests to dress to impress in their German best. Wear a dirndl or lederhosen – be authentic but get creative – and you could win a prize package that includes $500 Free Play, a complimentary night hotel room, $100 gift certificate to Garrison Oak Steakhouse and Oak Grove Gaming swag. Crowd applause will be included in deciding the winners, so bring all of your friends and family to cheer you on.
The inaugural Oak Grove Stein Hoist Challenge is an ultimate test of strength and endurance and will be held from 6pm-7pm on October 2. Competitors must hold a one-liter stein of beer, straight out without bending at the elbow or spilling any beer, for as long as they can. The US National Record for stein holding is 17 minutes and 11 seconds set in 2015. If you think you got what it takes to be the Oak Grove Stein Hoist Challenge champion, come ready to compete and one male and one female who record the longest hoist time will each receive a prize package that includes $500 Free Play, a complimentary night hotel room voucher, $100 gift certificate to Garrison Oak Steakhouse and Oak Grove Gaming swag.
The OAKtoberfest celebration is preceded by the 27th Annual Autumn Run Classic Car Show presented by Memory Lane Cruisers in Parking Lot C at Oak Grove Gaming. The car show is 9am-4pm October 2. Visit www.memorylanecruisers.net to learn more about the car show.
Live harness racing returns to Oak Grove Racing from October 17-December 6. This is the third annual live racing meet at the 5/8-mile harness horse track. The gaming floor has over 1,300 state-of-the-art historic racing machine (HRM) games with themes from Ainsworth, Scientific Games, International Gaming Technology (IGT) and Konami companies.
